It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the cancellation of this year’s Fourth of July Fireworks Display and Celebration.
We know that this will come as an enormous disappointment to all who enjoy the show every year.
The decision at this point is outside of our control. The Governors Executive Order 20-40 states “All social gatherings of more than fifteen (15) people in any public or private space such as an auditorium, stadium, arena, large conference room, meeting hall, library, theater, parade, fair, festival, park or beach, are prohibited” “Indoor and outdoor events must adhere to the social gathering limit of 15 people” during Phase II of the re-opening.
We also would not be able to get a permit for the show from the Town of Coventry based upon the Governors Executive Orders, CDC and Department of Health guidelines and recommendations. We realize these regulations and restrictions are put in place to prevent a spike in coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases. We are not alone in making sacrifices. All RI events this summer have either been postponed or cancelled including music festivals, parades, and sporting events.
Our primary concern is always the responsibility we feel towards our community and the health and safety of everyone. We recognize that it is the right decision based upon the information we have today.
Anyone who has already donated to the Fireworks celebration this year has two options.
- We will deposit your donation to our Fireworks Account and apply it to next year’s celebration.
- Contact me personally at firstname.lastname@example.org and we will return your check or provide a refund.
My message to everyone is to stay positive, enjoy your family and friends and have a great summer season.
